He man can you recommend an IPs screen for the DMG gameboy that doesn’t require the new board? I want to do a clear gameboy and those new mother boards look crappy in a clear shell.

I would have bought microfreak for that price 😢. Its extremely expensive for what it is.

Good tip is to put battery door back on shell before closing up the unit. The little metal cube that the battery door screw locates in can be loose in the shell and will end up rattling around in side when you think you’re finished.

Great video as always, Joe. I just tried this on my own and it's really good! The winning formula for me was a combination of the felt on the corners and one layer of label maker tape on the buttons and d-pad. The felt just made it a tad too stiff on the buttons for my liking but now it's perfect for me. Thanks again, you rock!

The only issue I found with the Pokédex one is the light pipe housing doesn’t have the fitment of the original. Normally I’d use the OEM light pipe on these but they don’t fit the extremerate housing. And the extremerate one doesn’t fit as tightly as it should so there’s little gaps.

What i don't understand, and something that comes up in all the video's about the nitro deck, is the reviewers making a problem about having to touch the screen to remove it. It's a touch screen! Just wipe your prints afterwards.

There are only 2 RELEVANT systems: Using an original GBC with an IPS/OLED screen upgrade and a flash card. Or the Miyoo Mini Plus / Anbernic derivative. EEEEEEEEEEverything else is just poop. And for 98% of all people the Miyoo Mini is by far the BEST choice. Because its cheaper then an OLED upgrade / FPGA mod and it has important features the ORIGINAL and FPGAs are missing: mid-game suspension & resume, quick loading, fast forwarding, wifi network play, etc. All for 50 bucks. The only reason to NOT use a Miyyo / Anbernic is if you want nostalgia and hold a REAL gbc. In which case go for the IPS / OLED screen mod and a flash card (no one likes to carry 10 game cartridges around...). These overpriced fpga devices are just dumb. They are WORSE then an original and worse then a 50 bucks Miyoo / Anbernic.

Aaahh… WD40 contact cleaner - my favourite. Great in depth tutorial. 👏 I also have had success with an eraser pencil (lightly applied) for more stubborn dirt on cartridge contacts.

Finally I can enjoy my GBA, I'm disabled and a friend of mine made my GBA. I had 2 ocean blue transparant shells, Both of them were cracked in a week or sooner. No screws overnight or whatever. I have read a topic on reddit that Funnyplaying transparant shells are very bad because of the cracking Now I have a shell with a solid color from Funnyplaying with a sort of robuster plastic and now nothing is happening. I'm very very happy!

I’ll say this from personal experience I bought a modded Gameboy with updated ips screen and everything, then I bought a Black regular Analogue Pocket aswell from EBay. No matter how you look at it , the Analogue is miles and miles ahead of : 1. Original Hardware 2. Modded Gameboys 3. Other clone handhelds . The build quality, the level of accuracy and Clarity of how these older games run on this handheld is unmatched . There’s nothing better out there .

Since I use the SP404SX I had to get the SPO SX case before it made sense to change it to the MK2 case and I love it. It can store spare batteries in the silicone base. But I do want the PO BOY too. I'm a sucker for translucent purple.

I asked ExtremeRate about 3DS shells and they said that they were working on them. No exact date but lets hope it is soon. I like their products. Good quality. They should also make PSP shells

These shells are bad. They are painted. It feels way worse than touching plastic directly. And the paint surface is a fingerprint magnet. I didn't try to scratch the case, but any damage too it will be dramatic, it will look horrible with no way to hide it. Also, the hinges feel strange because paint rub against paint. It feels dusty. It is not the fault of extremerate. The unpainted shells are perfect. But i would have prefered a red plastic shell with details painted. Not the whole shell painted.

Extra tip.. dont use gorilla glue... My controller looked like it had been infected with the cordyceps fungus..

This almost tempts me to design some kind of plastic food wrap and seal kind of dust shield that goes over the analog sticks so nothing can get down in there in the first place.
